Yuchengco's BKS Green Switches On Limbauan Solar Power Facility in Isabela

March 18, 2026, San Pablo, Isabela – BKS Green Energy Corporation (BKSGEC), a subsidiary of Yuchengco-led Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC), formally switched-on its 40 MWDC Limbauan Solar Power Plant (LSPP) in a ceremony held on March 16, 2026, at the project site in Barangay Limbauan, San Pablo, Isabela. RGEC is a joint venture of PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) and Taisei Corporation of Japan.

The switch-on ceremony was led by PGEC President & CEO Francisco G. Delfin, Jr., San Pablo Mayor Antonio Jose T. Miro III, Vice Mayor Antonio N. Miro, Jr., Department of Energy (DOE) Director Marissa Cerezo, together with representatives from PGEC Japanese partners Kyuden International Corporation (KIC), and Taisei Corporation, Isabela local government units, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Isabela Electric Cooperative II (ISELCO-II), Isabela State University (ISU), and other stakeholders.

“The current Middle East conflict highlights once more the absolute necessity of securing our country’s energy supply and reducing our dependence on imported energy sources. The switch-on of this solar power facility, among the first utility-scale solar plants in Isabela province, is thus very timely. It also testifies to the Yuchengco Group of Companies’ drive to add more renewable, clean and indigenous energy supply to the country’s grid to power our economy and strengthen local communities,” said PGEC President & CEO F.G. Delfin, Jr.

DOE’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau (DOE-REMB) Director Atty. Marissa Cerezo emphasized that renewable energy is a national priority. “In today’s global energy landscape, we are constantly reminded how geopolitical tensions can affect energy markets and drive up fuel prices. Thus, the government welcomes projects like the Limbauan solar power facility, that strengthens energy security and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. The DOE Secretary has also issued the directive that RE projects scheduled for completion this year must be completed in advance to ensure that our economy continues to grow without being at the mercy of global crises,” adds Atty. Cerezo.

Messages of support were delivered by KIC Managing Director Takeshi Iida, Taisei Corporation Executive Vice President Jiro Taniyama, and San Pablo Mayor Antonio Jose T. Miro III, highlighting the importance of international collaboration and strong government partnership and support in accelerating renewable energy development in the countryside.

The LSPP is developed in two phases – a 6-MWDC facility (Phase-1) embedded in the Isabela Electric Cooperative II (ISELCO-II) and a 34-MWDC facility directly connected to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) through a dedicated 4.73-kilometer transmission line linked to the 69-kV Tuguegarao–Cabagan line. LSPP Phase 2 is also among the winning bidders DOE’s Second Green Energy Auction (GEA-2).

When fully operational, the LSPP can generate approximately 59 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy annually, sufficient to power around 33,000 households, while avoiding an estimated 31,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year
