YGC Donates Solar Panels to DOST-PHIVOLCS for Volcano Monitoring
June 30, 2021
PetroSolar Corp., a member of the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC), which owns and operates the 70MWDC Tarlac Solar Power Plant in Central TechnoPark, Tarlac City, donated used solar panels to the Department of Science and Technology¬–Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS).
In brief and simple ceremonies held June 30 at the PHIVOLCS main office in Diliman, Q.C., PetroSolar Vice President F.G. Delfin, Jr. turned-over eleven (11) slightly used 330W-335W solar panels to DOST Undersecretary and DOST-PHIVOLCS Officer-in-Charge Renato U. Solidum Jr.
“These slightly used PV solar panels, based on tests, can still generate power for light loads. Hence, instead of consigning them for waste disposal, our donation will not only extend the use of these PV panels but as important contribute to DOST-PHIVOLCS’ critical mission of disaster risk monitoring and mitigation, “Delfin remarked.
For his part, USec. Solidum said, “On behalf of DOST-PHIVOLCS, I thank PetroSolar Corp. and the YGC for this thoughtful gesture. This donation will help supply and maintain power in our remote monitoring stations to ensure constant data recording and transmittal to our Main Office.”
